Arts & Crafts
The holidays are fast approaching and everyone has already begun to think about what they want to buy for presents, or they have already started their holiday shopping. Today we are going to show you a great idea for a handmade gift that can be created in so many ways – we will show you how to made a handmade ornament. After all, isn’t it better when it comes from the heart?
Materials needed:
- Ornaments are wonderful gifts from the heart because it is the gift that keeps on giving. It can be used year after year, and it will make the recipient think of you every time they hang that ornament on their tree. These ornaments can be given to teachers, a friend, a family member, or even your boss at work!
- A great material for the base of your handmade ornament are these is our E-Z Print Sign Board, it comes in smaller pieces so its easier to cut. You can also use our poster board products if you like, and cut the board into smaller sections, making it easier to work with
- You can use a word stamp to get the same effect as above, or even use an old book if you have one laying around
Directions:
To make the base, you need to form the paper in the shape of a cone like below. Tear paper into small rectangles that measure about 2.5″X2″ Roll the rectangle into a cone, and use glue to make it secure. Each ornament uses 20 rolls so plan accordingly.
For the center piece, you can cut stars from a heavy card stock. Our thicker poster board, or foam board products are perfect for this step. The star should be about 3 inches. You can print an outline online to make this step easier for you
Next step is to make the hanger. Use a thread and needed and go through the center of the top point on the stars.
Now to put it all together! Glue the cones onto the star. Add rolls to the spaces and fill in between the cones. You can add glitter to the edges with a paint brush, glue, and glitter color of your choice
After you shook the glitter off, you can add another piece to the center. Cut a 2 inch circle from your remaining materials and using a sticker, or similar supply you can add a letter to the center of the circle. Make it pop by painting over the letter with glue and covering it with glitter.
The last step is to hot glue your letter to the center of the ornament and you have your handmade ornament gift! Super easy and I bet you already have all these materials in your home!
