Light up your home with a new twist on the traditional!
Hanukkah is just around the corner – and this craft is one you and your kids will love! The possibilities are endless with this handmade menorah project – and you will be sure to find one to suit your style.
Here are the basic materials to make a handmade menorah:
- paper
- coloring utensils
- scissors
- glue
- craft sticks
- paint or markers
- toilet paper rolls / paper towel rolls
- yellow poster board
Directions:
- Save either 8 toilet paper rolls or 4 paper towel rolls that can be cut in half to be used for the candles. Clean off any tissue bits from the rolls and paint them in blue. You can use one shade or multiple – its up to you!
- When dry, using a paper towel roll, cut it so there is a larger half that can be used as the center shamash candle for your handmade menorah.
- After you have done this, its time to make the candles. I used craft sticks and yellow poster board for this step. The poster board can be cut into sections to make it easier to work with. Cut the paper into teardrop shapes to represent the flames. Glue the teardrop candle flames to the ends of the craft sticks.
Now you are done making your own handmade menorah! Each night when its time to “light” the menoarah, place each stick in the center of each roll.
An alternative for older children, can be creating a base as well, that the candles can be glued into. You can glue a candle in for each night of Hanukkah! www.iClicknPrint.com has all the tools you need to make your crafts and projects at home!
